MEAT ABUSE RISKS

Red meat meaning beef, pork, and goat are good complement food in the usual due to their nutritious elements still if a person abuse of it, the consequences could be unhealthy.
In general Rwandan appreciate meat a lot, some of rural people even call them “once accessible”, this tends to push so persons to think that a wealthy life has to include daily meat meals.
In bars it is not rare to see those who do drink alcohol uniting their drinks with brochettes, and even in such place as Nyamirambo where they are not selling alcohol, even along road side you will find barbecues.
In Rwanda people could be classified in three specific categories according to cities lifestyle behaviour.
1. Those who adopted the western lifestyle; will tend to eat a lot of meat especially cooked in oil almost everyday.
2. For those who are living in urban areas and can afford a daily meal; it seems impossible to avoid meat more than two days in arrow.
3. In rural areas, many can’t afford to buy meat on a daily basis and are often surviving on traditional meals as “imvange” which is a mix of vegetables, potatoes, beans and green bananas all cooked together.
Consequences of meat abuse:
Researchers have demonstrated that a large consummation of meat could seriously affect person health.
Some of those consequences are for example kidney problems or many other diseases such as cancer, gut and others.
The American Institute for Cancer Research has come up with a report titled “Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective” that shows how too much red meat in your daily nutrition can conduct to contract cancers as kidney cancer, throat cancer, lung cancer and others.
Other research studies have also brought up the fact that eating too much red meat could incite heart problems due to the large amount of grease it contains.
In general research studies have proved that abusing red meat tend to conduct to health issues especially for sickness that rise in the blood system or in muscles.
Researchers are commonly admitting that red meat could be the base of type 2 diabetes.
The required quantity of meat to eat:
For a healthy person, it should be reasonable to eat less than 500g or 1/2kg every week. A barbecue owner told us that on a normal basis 500g could easily be used for three to four brochettes.
Another thing is that a person that practice sport will be less at risk than those who is not so much in to sport activities. Sport helps to eliminate unwanted extras in the body.
